In this episode, we welcome T.W. Shannon back to the show. He is running to represent the state of Oklahoma as one of its two US Senators. He was one of the top two vote getters in the June 29th Republican primary in the state of Oklahoma where got 17.5% of the vote. He will be part of a runoff election which will be held on August the 23rd to determine who will represent the Republican party in the general election on November 8th of this year. He currently serves as President and CEO of Chickasaw Community Bank and is the State Highway Commissioner for Central Oklahoma. In 2006, he was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, and in 2013 he became the youngest and the first black person to be the Speaker of the House for the state of Oklahoma. In 2017 he was selected as a Fellow for the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School, and he got his Juris Doctorate from Oklahoma City University. In this interview, we discuss why he decided to run for the US Senate, how he felt when former President Trump endorsed his opponent, who he wants to see represent the Republican party in the 2024 General Election for President, his thoughts on the Biden Administration thus far, how he plans to tackle tough issues facing America as a US Senator, why his Christian faith is so important to his campaign, why Okies should vote for him on August 23rd, and much more.
