The Modern Bystander Effect (Ep. 251)



In this episode, we discuss the Bystander Effect which looks at why people don’t intervene when someone is in trouble. This social psychological theory came to prominence following the brutal 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese in NYC. People watched the assault but did not try to help her. We look at two recent examples of similar actions by bystanders, why this seems to be happening more often, and what Christians can do to counteract it. Let’s get into it…
