JONATHAN ISAAC | Why I Stand for Christ and Not BLM (Ep. 310)
In this episode, we welcome Jonathan Isaac to the show. Jonathan plays in the National Basketball Association for the Orlando Magic and was the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He is also the author of the new book Why I Stand which he published under the Daily Wire’s new publishing wing. He became a household name on July 31st, 2020, when he decided to stand for the National Anthem while everyone else on the court knelt and wore shirts that said “BLACK LIVES MATTER.” In this interview, we discuss the background of his decision not to kneel, how his upbringing affected his performance anxiety and desire to please, the turning point in his basketball development, the special relationship with a coach that helped him pick the college team he wanted to play for, what it was like hearing his name be called at the NBA Draft in NYC, how back-to-back injuries during his rookie season opened the door for him to pull his full faith in Christ, what he plans to do after he retires from basketball, and much more. Let’s get into it…
